Superman #140 Oct. 1960: The “Orphan” Bizarro! [part 2]

Don’t look for part one, Supergirl wasn’t in it. Read a synopsis of part one here.

Superman and Supergirl have to take care of Bizarro-Jr.

Bizarro-Jr. ends up at the Midvale orphanage where Kara quickly finds out that he’s not a normal child. The little super-bastard starts getting into trouble and in his infinite wisdom Superman decides to leave him in Kara’s charge at the orphanage. The super-baby situation quickly gets out of control and Superman has two of his robots (disguised as a married couple) adopt Bizarro-Jr. Their job done Superman then has the robots sink themselves into quicksand! There’s no more humane way of getting rid of sentient robots than to sink them in quicksand? Only a super-dick would come up with such a cold-hearted solution.

Oh hey, it looks like Kara got a new hairstyle! It looks more ‘poofy’ her usual style. Unfortunately, her hair reverts back by the next issue.

I like the new hairstyle, she looks like Marilyn Monroe to me.

Superman then decides that Bizarro-Jr. should stay at his Fortress of Solitude alone. Yup, he decides to leave a small child alone in the middle of nowhere. Oh sure, Superman and Supergirl will come by when they can but that still leaves him alone for long periods of time. A responsible adult would have stayed with the child, even if that meant giving up his Clark Kent persona. Maybe the Justice League could have taken turns caring for him. On the other hand, Supergirl doesn’t do a very good job taking care of him when she’s there. She accidentally blows up an experiment she’s working on and turns him into a Bizarro-looking baby. Gorilla Grodd would have been a better babysitter that these two mooks.

On my patented Supergirl Wink © scale this issue gets:

Eight winks!
