Supergirl gets a super-horse! Girls like horses, right?
This issue starts with Supergirl using her super-powers to help her parents get to a movie on time. Yup, she’s still using her powers to help family and friends solve minor problems which don’t justify the chance that someone will see her. The next few days Supergirl has recurring dreams about a horse with super-powers that helps her perform good deeds. Why all-of-a-sudden Kara is gaga over horses is not really explained. I personally find it kinda creepy, especially with what we learn later on, but maybe the writers were just pandering to little girl’s love of horses.
When Fred Danvers, Kara’s foster father, asks his family where they’d like to go on vacation Kara pipes up that she’d like to go to a Supergirl-themed dude ranch she once visited. Where else would a person who’s obsessed with horses want to go? When they arrive Kara finds that one of the horses looks exactly like her dream horse ‘Comet’. The real-life ‘Comet’ takes an immediate like to Kara, almost like he already knows her, and lets her (and only her) ride him.
Linda/Kara rides off with ‘Comet’ and when they are away from prying eyes Comet performs acts that only a super-powered creature could. He even shows that he knows of Kara’s secret identity. How did this horse gain super-powers? Could he be another survivor of Krypton? Did his horse parents create a horse trailer-rocket to save their only son from the destruction of Krypton? Find out in the next issue!
