This girl should have every right in the world to hate Supergirl…naw, just kidding, she’s crazy.
This issue begins with Supergirl saving the life of a local girl named Karen Blair. Unlike most people Karen doesn’t like Supergirl…at all! Hell, she’d rather die than be saved by Supergirl! We are then treated to a few scenes of Karen’s ‘Supergirl-bashing’ around town.
Supergirl decides to abduct Karen and ask her why she hates her so much. Karen informs Supergirl that she holds a grudge against her because Supergirl killed her father and maimed her brother! *FLASHBACK!* One day, while working at a local observatory, Karen’s father and brother were able to contact aliens who agreed to share their superior scientific know-how with Earth. Before Mr. Blair and son could pop open their first bottle of champagne a dark object flew by the observatory and shot a beam of fire/electricity at it, killing the father and hurting young Mr. Blair. Coincidentally enough, this was the same night Supergirl landed on Earth. Karen put two and two together and came to the conclusion that Supergirl’s rocket caused the fire. Karen is obviously wrong since Supergirl remembers landing nowhere near the observatory.
In order to prove her innocence Supergirl takes Karen back to the Fortress of Solitude where she can kill her without anyone finding out, damn bitch thinks she can hate me! use Superman’s Chronoscope to show her events from the past. They tune in to the time right before her family’s accident and witness a space bat fly by and shoot its hyper-ray at the observatory causing the damage to the building. The space bat was attracted to the electrical signal Mr. Blair was using to contact the aliens. Now that Karen knows Supergirl is innocent she decides she wants to be BFF with her. GREAT.
