What Mike forced me to buy after the break (SPOILERS):
Adventure Comics #516 (download preview) :: Terrible, boring issue. Let’s run down the problems:
- It’s an R.J. Brande ‘origins’ story = boring
- The art is terrible.
- I think there’s a continuity error: the Legion in this comic is the same one as in the ‘New Krypton’ mini-series which means that they are the ‘adult’ Legion but they are hanging around with Superboy instead of Superman. Shouldn’t the ‘young’ Legion be hanging around with Superboy? I can’t really tell if the Legion is young because the art is terrible (see problem #2).
- At some point R.J. Brande developed a really weird way of talking, his syntax is sproking off. I like to describe it as ‘Yoda-ish’. It’s very hard to follow what he’s saying.
- Oh great, now we get a The Atom co-feature which has nothing to do with the Legion but adds a buck to the price of the issue. THANKS.
R.E.B.E.L.S. #18 (download preview) :: Another great issue, lots of action, three (count them, 3!) Brainiacs plus the reintroduction of Pulsar Stargrave. This title is what the Legion book should be like.
Richard Stark’s Parker: The Man with the Getaway Face (preview) :: This is a preview issue/chapter of Darwyn Cooke’s The Outfit. The Hunter was amazing and I have high hopes for the sequel. Oh, this thing is beautiful. It’s larger than a regular comic and the paper feels nice in your hands. The art and writing is spot-on too.
